Giraffes

for anyone who finds giraffes cute, or beautiful, or interesting.

Some of the things I love about giraffes: awkward gamboling movement, huge, beautiful eyes, knobby knees, dextrous blue tongues, goofy, awkward babies and lovely expressive faces.

  • Anonymous asked: What signs of submission is their in giraffes

hmmm, well I know that male giraffes fight by hitting each other with their heads and necks (called ‘necking’) and the basic gist of it is ‘you move, you lose’, whichever giraffe gives ground first by giving up or retreating is the loser. Sometimes they will start by just sort of pushing at each other and a very submissive or over-matched giraffe would give up or lose then, but if both are very dominant and evenly matched they fight pretty intensely. Hope that helps!
